California voted in November to legalize recreational marijuana for anyone 21 and older. The law took effect in January 2018, and officials expect legalization to bring about $1 billion in tax revenue.
"Northern California wildfires have taken lives, destroyed homes, and businesses, and are a continued threat to the state. Cannabis cultivators are amongst those who have been impacted by the loss of home and livelihood. Recovery for these cultivators has been difficult because cannabis is an under-insured crop. Bureaucratic complications prevent growers from getting loans or qualifying for federal recovery funds," one of the promoters of the event noted to JamBands.com
