Summer .. Tour ... Is ... HERE!

Last week as the summer heat began to beat down on my northeast Ohio porch once again I found shaking with excitement for Dead and Company summer tour. It is commonly said that those who believe that the winter holiday season is the best time of the year have simply not been on summer Dead tour. As I’ve grown up with the Dead the smells of patchouli, pot, and grilled cheese have become just as important to my summer as freshly cut grass and grilled burgers. One of my favorite, and in my opinion underrated Dead tunes is “Lazy River Road”. “Lazy River Road”, to me, immediately summons these familiar smells and memories of smiles, sunshine, and lot PBRs. As the years have gone by these sweet memories have stood the test of time and shine as bright as the summer sun itself. “Bright blue boxcars train by train
Clatter while dreams unfold” I’ve always seen this line as a mysterious yet inspiring line. What do these boxcars contain? The line “clatter” suggests a noisey and uneasy vibe. However, these trains clatter while dreams UNFOLD, which gives the song a whimsical happy feel. Symbolically, this is representative in a true Dead experience, I believe. You may not remember all the strangers you meet on lot, the exact setlist, or that guys’ name who called the bustout song with you on the lawn, but you do remember that it happened with a dream unfolding before you. Once again we here at So Many Roads have the treat to say we will be shipping out for another summer tour on the road with all of you. More importantly, we’re psyched to unfold this dream with everyone together. To some, the Dead are just a band, but to many they’re a representation of the larger dream that encompasses America and life itself. While I certainly couldn’t tell you what this dream is exactly, just like I couldn’t tell you what’s in the bright blue boxcars of “Lazy River Road” I will tell you I’m more than pleased to be joining this whole family on the unfolding of a dream.
