UPDATE: Plans can now move forward for a two day Dead & Company music festival to be held at Jackson Hole Hereford Ranch this summer, after the Board of County Commissioners gave the event the green light on Friday.
One of the included conditions was that music ends at 10pm. Some commissioners even suggested changing it to 9pm.
Many questions and I'm sure much more information to come very soon. Traffic and security plans must be submitted by April 1st, then everything is full steam ahead.
As of Monday morning, almost 60 additional comments supporting the concert had flowed into the commissioner's inbox over the weekend, adding to the 30-plus received by Friday afternoon.
County administrator Alyssa Watkins said while special event permit applications usually undergo an administrative review, the scale of the proposal, with an anticipated 15-20,000 attendees, makes it more of a policy question for the board.
"The size and scope of this proposal exceeds anything we’ve historically seen," Watkins said.
The event promoter Highline Sports and Entertainment has indicated it faces a March 1 deadline to get a go-ahead from the county, but Highline is seeking an extension of several weeks. Watkins indicated if the March 1 deadline remains, she will advise the board, and it will have the option of calling an earlier special meeting to consider the concert permit.
Watkins said all required county departments have reviewed the special event permit application at this time.
"In an overview of the responses, the consistent feedback in terms of concerns from responders is the number of attendees, impact on traffic and impact on residents in the vicinity," Watkins said.
The commissioners will have a chance to discuss those concerns when the application is taken up at a meeting.
So Many Roads is in contact with local representatives and will provide an update one more information has been obtained.
